Outdoor Deck & Bar Restoration
Beach Haven, NJAfter purchasing the home, the homeowner wanted to improve the outdoor entertaining area while preserving as much of the existing structure as possible. The platform deck between the house and detached garage was nearing the end of its useful life, but targeted repairs and a heavy-duty resurfacing system provided a practical way to extend its serviceability and dramatically improve its appearance.
The existing bar was restored as the focal point of the space. Its faded wood wainscoting was refinished in a deeper stain, while the chipped and weathered epoxy bar top was sanded nearly to bare wood, extensively repaired, primed for adhesion, and finished with a durable two-step coating system coordinated with the new deck color.
Additional improvements included scraping and painting the window behind the bar, painting the garage door, replacing the exterior ceiling fan, and mounting a television to complete the refreshed entertainment area.

Scope of Work
Inspected the existing platform deck and identified deteriorated or damaged areas.
Removed and replaced select sections that could no longer be effectively repaired.
Filled and rebuilt damaged areas using appropriate repair compounds.
Sanded and prepared the deck surface for resurfacing.
Applied a textured DeckOver coating to improve appearance, traction, and weather resistance.
Cleaned and prepared the existing bar and surrounding woodwork.
Restained the faded wainscoting in a richer, darker finish.
Mechanically sanded the deteriorated epoxy bar top nearly to the original wood.
Extensively filled, leveled, and sanded the bar top to create a smooth, uniform surface.
Applied STIX bonding primer to promote adhesion over the restored substrate.
Finished the bar top with BEHR epoxy satin interior/exterior concrete and garage-floor paint.
Applied BEHR Wet-Look Sealer as the protective finish coat.
Scraped and prepared the window behind the bar.
Primed and painted the window and surrounding components.
Prepared and painted the exterior garage door.
Removed and replaced the exterior ceiling fan.
Mounted and secured the outdoor television.
